On the Sunday night of my mom's visit we were looking for something to do after dinner. We thought about riding the very popular Bird type scooters around downtown, but the thought of riding scooters around traffic and cars stresses the heck outta me. I always see people riding those scooters around Centennial Park, and I thought that would be a less stressful place to have a fun ride.
When we got to Centennial Park my husband found one of the scooters to ride, but my mom and I decided to rent bikes from the BCycle station. The bikes are only $5 to rent for a whole day, and the first hour is free.

We had the best time riding around the park for about an hour. The weather was great, and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. We also loved watching the fireflies come out all around the park as the sun was setting.
The park had the best atmosphere on that Sunday night. Families walking, casual soccer games, yoga groups, and other activities were all around us and it was the perfect city night in the park. I absolutely love Central Park in New York; and while Centennial Park isn't quite as big, it still has that park in the middle of a city feel that I love. There were also great views of the Parthenon that were perfect picture opportunities as you can see!

Renting the bikes and scooters are both super easy. To rent one of the scooters you just download an app on your phone, and to rent a bike you just use your credit cart at the kiosk by the bike rack. When you are done with the bikes you just return them to the rack, and the scooters you can just leave anywhere.
If you are looking for an inexpensive family friendly activity in Nashville I would definitely recommend riding bikes or scooters in the park. It was much less stressful than riding scooters on busy streets and having to worry about cars. If wheels aren't your speed- the park has great walking paths, fields for sports, and lots of shady benches and swings. Centennial Park has really become one of my favorite spots in Nashville this summer.
