I love The Gulch. In my opinion, it is one of the very best areas of Nashville. Taylor Swift has her apartment there- so duh it has to be great!
The Gulch is home to popular restaurants, trendy fitness studios, fun murals and a few boutique stores. Milk & Honey is one of the most well known restaurants in The Gulch. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch, and have a quick serve pastry and coffee counter open all day.
I have been to Milk & Honey 3 times: once for breakfast, once for dinner, and most recently a quick stop to the pastry/coffee counter. Any restaurant in the Gulch is busy on the weekends during breakfast/brunch hours, and when I visited on a Sunday morning last June it was no exception. We waited about an hour to be seated, but we did have a bit of a larger group. Breakfast at Milk & Honey was amazing. Everyone loved what they ordered, and they were also very accommodating to the four small children we had with us. I would love to have breakfast there again this year.
When I visited Milk & Honey again for dinner, I had high expectations from my last visit. Honestly, their dinner was not my favorite. Their portions were really small, the flavors weren't anything special, and each of us left still a bit hungry. If you are stopping at Milk & Honey for a sit down meal I would recommend dining during breakfast, lunch, or brunch hours.
Today I was down in the Gulch running into a store, and decided to stop in Milk & Honey for a sweet treat. (If you can't already tell, I have a big sweet tooth.) It was around 4:30, so the place was almost empty as they got ready for dinner. There was no line at the quick serve counter, and the barista working was the sweetest. She immediately greeted me, answered my questions, and totally made my day. Each time I am at this restaurant I am impressed with their great service, and today was no different.
I ordered a chocolate whoopie pie the size of my face. How could I say no to that? I have eyed their whoopie pies each time I come, so today I decided to give it a try. It was $5, but definitely big enough for a few people to share. Unfortunately, they look a bit better than they taste. The cookie had a nice chocolate flavor that wasn't too sweet so it complemented the sweet frosting well, but it was just a bit dry and crumbly.

One of my favorite things about this restaurant is their cute branding and honey themed merchandise. Check out the cute bag and paper on my whoopie pie. It was so big it looked like a hamburger wrapped up! I also had to snap a pic of the home made pop tarts in their case- I need to try those next!

Overall, Milk & Honey has been hit or miss for me. But, the breakfast was a shining star. I have also heard great things about their specialty drinks and cold pressed juices, so I would love to try one of those sometime. If you are in Nashville be sure to save some time for The Gulch, and stop in Milk & Honey to see what you think!
