The 4th of July in Nashville is amazing. I have been looking forward to the 4th since the beginning of the summer, and it did not disappoint! Jon worked during the day, so our festivities started a bit later in the afternoon. We went to a pool party with Jon's sales team and had fun hanging out with our friends for a few hours. Then we got ready to head downtown for the Music City July 4th event.
We decided to go downtown a bit later this year because last year we were so hot waiting for the fireworks. The fun starts at noon, but the event is completely free so you can come and go anytime you'd like. The Music City Walk of Fame park has kids and family events running all day, and the concerts at the main stage started at 12 pm and ran until 9:30. The main performer this year was Brett Eldredge, and he started at 8:20.
We got downtown about 7:30, and it didn't take us long at all to park and walk over to Broadway. We even scored a free parking spot, so this event didn't cost us anything. There is plenty of parking for $10 around Nissan Stadium as well.
This year the weather was great, so we weren't dying of heat (hallelujah!). They shut down Broadway and the surrounding streets, but all the bars and businesses are open. We walked around the food trucks and vendors, then stopped in a few bars for a bit of air conditioning and to listen to the live music. There were a ton of people everywhere, but the atmosphere is so fun. The Visit Music City website says that 343,000 came to the 4th celebration this year.
We listened to Brett Eldredge on Broadway for a bit, but it can be hard to hear in certain spots because the concert music gets mixed with all the music coming from the bars, so it is just a jumble of loud music! They key is to get nearby one of the speaker stands. Around 8:45 we decided to head down closer to the river to sit and find a spot to watch fireworks. They have speakers clear down to the river, so we could actually hear the concert music better down there anyways. When finding a spot for the fireworks, you really can't go wrong. You can see them from pretty much anywhere downtown.

The firework show was absolutely incredible. This year we were sitting close to one of the speaker stands, so we could hear the live music from the Nashville Symphony as well. I was so impressed with the fireworks last year, that I didn't expect them to wow me as much this year. I was wrong. They were so good! The fireworks last for a full 30 minutes, and the whole show feels like the grand finale. But when the finale came, it was unbelievable. I seriously cried because I was so caught up in how amazing the moment was. 11 out of 10.

If you are thinking of traveling to Nashville during the summer, I highly recommend visiting over the 4th of July. It is such a cool atmosphere, and I think it's amazing that the event is completely free. The fireworks are unlike anything else I have ever seen. I hardly took any pictures at the event because I was so caught up in having a good time and being in the moment. So, you'll have to come experience it for yourself!
